Today, the Consumer Electronics Association announced that it will be using Apple’s new iBeacon technology to host a unique scavenger hunt of sorts at its International CES event scheduled for next week. Using the official CES mobile apps for iOS or Android, attendees will be able to collect badges for encountering the location-aware Bluetooth iBeacons placed throughout the CES showfloor. CEA is using a Bluetooth iBeacon development kit from Radius Networks (pictured above) and Texas Instruments’ SensorTag technology....

Fans in China eager to get their hands on Apple’s iPhone through wireless operators other than China Unicom, the country’s exclusive iPhone partner, are in for a surprise as the device is really close to launching on the China Telecom network. According to the Wall Street Journal, it received a much-needed CDMA-2000 network access license from Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, the country’s certification body. The filming for Marvel’s upcoming Black Widow has reportedly been delayed until June. Scarlett Johansson first appeared as Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow, in Iron Man 2 in 2010, but has since appeared in several entries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Widow last appeared (and survived) in Avengers: Infinity War and her first solo movie is seemingly moving forward. Fans have been asking for a solo Black Widow movie for years now, but things really started to move forward for the film last year....

Update Nov. 20: Borderlands 2 is now available on Mac for $45. Aspyr Media and 2k Games announced this afternoon that Borderlands 2 would launch on Mac Nov. 20. Borderlands 2, a Gearbox Software-made sequel to the original Borderlands, is being delivered to Mac gamers by publisher Aspyr later this month. The game was originally released to much fanfare Sept. 18 on Steam for Windows and for Xbox 360, and it has been called “a winner” by reviewers....

Earlier this year, BitTorrent announced a new BitTorrent Now app that allows users to stream a variety of content including videos and music. At the time, the app was Android-only, but now the app has officially come to iOS and Apple TV. BitTorrent says that a variety of publishers have signed on to share content on the BitTorrent Now platform, including The Onion, Super Deluxe, and IHeartComix. Right after opening the BitTorrent Now app, users will be able to choose from all kinds of content from those publishers and more....

Bloomberg reports that Samsung has signed on to provide A9 chips to Apple for the next-generation iPhone. Apple moved to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in 2013 for its processors, looking to reduce its reliance on Samsung, who is a major competitor in the smartphone space and a legal foe. With that said, it was reported last September that Samsung was still supplying 40 percent of the A8 chips found in the iPhone 6 despite Apple’s attempt to part ways....

Fantasy/crime sequel Bright 2 is still going ahead, although production has been delayed due to the schedule of Will Smith. The first Bright was a 2017 urban fantasy movie set in a modern day world with fantasy creatures such as orcs, elves, dwarves and centaurs living alongside humans, and sees Smith as a bigoted human police officer reluctantly partnered with the first orc to ever wear a badge.
