Originally not meant to be such a major character, the chemistry between Aaron Paul, who plays the young high school kid turned right-hand man to the drug kingpin, and Walter White, high school science teacher turned Heisenberg himself, was off the charts. And so we got episode after episode of Jesse trying to figure out how he ended up serving in the dark underbelly of the top-level drug world alongside his former chemistry teacher....

A new study from OpenSignal published today looks into the cellular performance of the most popular iPhones going back to 2013. While there’s nothing too surprising in the findings, it does nail down exactly what average speeds each model sees, how much owners of older iPhones are missing out, how much iPhone cellular speeds have grown over the years, and a few other interesting details. For those with and iPhone 5s, 6 or 6 Plus, the research shows that those models are capable of roughly half of the cellular speeds that the new iPhone XS and XS Max are....

Charlie Sloth, the BBC’s leading hip-hop DJ, is leaving the corporation after ten years to join Apple Music. Sloth currently fronts a late night show broadcast simultaneously on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. He follows in the footsteps of former Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, who famously made the jump to Apple Music back in 2015 … The departure of Charlie Sloth from the BBC is a matter of record, with Music Business Worldwide reporting that it’s to join Apple Music to host a worldwide show on Beats 1 – as well as curating his own playlists....

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that he doesn’t think it likely that the Chinese government will target the iPhone maker in retaliation for Trump administration policies. The US has imposed 25% tariffs on many products imported from China, and Trump has threatened to extend this to all Chinese imports … Some Apple accessories are already taxed at 25%, and Trump’s threat would see all Apple products made in China and sold in the US hit by the tariff – resulting in either steep price increases or reduced profitability for the company....

iPhone models made up 6 of the 10 best-selling smartphones globally in January, according to a new market intelligence report today. The iPhone 12 mini does, however, find itself farther down the rankings than the iPhone 11 … Counterpoint Research says that a third of sales of the iPhone 12 lineup was in the US. There was some good news for rival Samsung: The company’s promotion of its affordable A-series models appears to have been successful, with two models making the top 10 best-selling smartphones....

Because 2019 is the year of the roadmap in gaming, RAGE 2 publisher Bethesda has put out a post-launch release schedule detailing what’s to come in the post-apocalyptic shooter this year. Though it may seem a little strange that even a single-player game like RAGE 2 is getting the roadmap treatment, the list of things that developers Avalanche Studios and id Software have planned refreshingly point to the game being a finished product with a normal mix of free and paid DLC in the works....

The Big Bang Theory is using Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) baby conflict to distract people’s attention from the fact that the other characters’ have barely had any arcs in the show’s final season. After complaints from players - and other developers - about its endgame drop rates, BioWare has made some Anthem loot changes designed to improve access to useful endgame gear and improve the crafting process for endgame equipment. This was announced by the game’s lead producer, Ben Irving, in a Reddit thread outlining some other significant changes that would arrive in the upcoming patch. David Harbour is done filming his role as Red Guardian in Black Widow. The recent Stranger Things star officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer when he was announced as a cast member in Scarlett Johansson’s solo film. The addition of Harbour was previously reported, but the confirmation by Marvel Studios also brought word that he would play the character of Alexi Shostakov in the MCU. Harbour is one of my new additions to the MCU who will make their debuts in Black Widow....

Marvel Studios has cast Stranger Things star David Harbour as the Red Guardian, essentially the Russian Captain America, a classic comic book character created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema back in 1967. Marvel Comics had always imagined that its stories are told in “the world outside your window,” albeit a version of that world populated by superheroes and with occasional alien invasions....

As rumors of iPad updates continue to swirl, a new report from Bloomberg today offers additional details. According to the report, Apple could announce new iPad Pro models “as early as April,” with updates to the iPad mini and entry-level iPad also expected sometime this year. The primary new detail in today’s Bloomberg report is that Apple has tested new iPad Pro models with a Thunderbolt port. Currently, the iPad Pro uses USB-C connectivity, which features the same port design but more limited expandability....

Investor Carl Icahn revealed today that he has purchased another 2.8 million Apple shares bringing his total up to more than 7.5 million. That brings his stake in Apple up to approximately $4.5 billion from the $1 billion worth of Apple stock he reportedly owned last summer. The news comes following Apple’s introduction of a $90 billion share buyback and a 7-to-1 stock split announced last month. Icahn, who had been pressuring Apple to increase value for shareholders in a number of open letters, meetings with CEO Tim Cook, and media interviews since first announcing his purchase of AAPL last year, said he was “extremely pleased” with Apple’s recent announcements....
