Warning: Major SPOILERS ahead for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3.
Aside from the future of the coven residing in Greendale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3 resulted in several lingering questions. As viewers finish up the recently released season on Netflix and look towards the forthcoming installment, there’s a lot to analyze and ponder about Sabrina Spellman’s (Kiernan Shipka) recent decisions and what they mean for the multiple realms.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina first debuted in 2018 and was based on the Archie Comics series by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creative mind behind Riverdale. In fact, Sabrina was initially meant to be a companion series to Riverdale on The CW but it later moved to Netflix. The two series exist in the same universe and there have been small connections made despite the lack of a major crossover. Fans of both series continue to keep hope that a big crossover event will occur in the near future.
In its most eventful season to date, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina continues expanding Sabrina’s struggles within the witch realm and the mortal world. Sabrina is tasked with her claim to the throne while also combatting a stiff competitor, Prince Caliban (Sam Corlett). Meanwhile, her aunts, Zelda and Hilda Spellman (Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis, respectively), are tasked with leading a depleted coven in a new direction as they face a dangerous group of Pagans threatening Greendale. After Sabrina finds a way to save her friends and family in Greendale while also cementing her spot as the Queen of Hell, new questions arise ahead of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4.
What Will Happen When Double Sabrina Is Found Out?
Rather than follow the rules in closing the ongoing time loop, Sabrina finds a solution so that she can be at two places at once. Future Sabrina, who goes back in time to prevent the apocalypse at the hands of the Pagans, made a deal with Past Sabrina to exist together. The future teenager goes back to her life in Greendale while the past version avoids the 9th Circle to become the Queen of Hell. This means that there is a Sabrina Spellman and a Sabrina Morningstar existing in the same universe. The Spellman family, as well as the Dark Lord, aka Lucifer Morningstar (Luke Cook) and the rest of the underworld, won’t be too happy when they learn of Sabrina’s big trick.
What Will Be The Consequences Of Sabrina’s Time Paradox?
After making a deal with a doppelgänger, Sabrina quickly returns to the Spellman home which makes her cousin, Ambrose (Chance Perdomo), rather suspicious. He gets the truth out of her and is instantly worried about what her actions will do in terms of a time paradox. Pop culture fans are well aware that time travel should not be messed with because it will have dire consequences to the timeline. Sabrina doesn’t seem too concerned, believing that the cosmos will sort themselves out. But the cuckoo clock randomly falling off of the wall at that proclamation looks to hint that trouble is coming. If it isn’t her loves ones or powerful figures from hell, the laws of time and space will inevitably catch up to Sabrina.
Will Sabrina Morningstar Serve As The Evil Twin?
There was speculation ahead of season 3 that Sabrina’s evil twin would be introduced. This stems from storylines in Archie Comics and a subplot in Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV series. The evil twin theory doesn’t come true but Sabrina Morningstar’s presence in season 4 could follow that narrative. Since Sabrina goes back home, she will follow the coven as a member of the new Order of Hectate. They now worship the Greek goddess of witchcraft with no affiliations to the Dark Lord or Lilith (Michelle Gomez). Considering the other Sabrina is serving as the Queen of Hell with Lucifer and Lilith by her side, this could cause some conflict between the two Sabrinas. Hell’s influence on the Past Sabrina could turn her into a villain or better yet, the infamous evil twin.
What Will Happen To Lilith After She Gives Birth?
Lilith only got pregnant by Lucifer to avoid execution for a bit longer. Now that she’s carrying the Dark Lord’s child, supposedly a son, Lilith will remain in hell. Once she does give birth to another heir, it will be interesting to see how she pleads for an extension on her life. Lilith still clearly has plans to take the throne. With the Dark Lord back, Sabrina serving as Queen, and another Morningstar child on the way, there are even more figures blocking her path to power. In order to stick around after the child is born, Lilith will need to prove her worth in the eyes of Lucifer and Sabrina.
Are Zelda And Mambo Marie The New Power Couple?
Zelda is initially reluctant for the coven to receive assistance by the voodoo priestess, Mambo Marie LaFleur (Skye Marshall). Prudence opens her eyes with the belief other powers could steer the coven in the right direction. It was Marie’s influence that gets Zelda out of limbo and those raw powers that help reform the coven. After declaring that the Church of Night will convert to the Order of Hecate, Zelda shares a passionate kiss with Marie. Viewers might wonder if these two will be the next couple in power as they fight to lead and empower the next generation of witches. The coven is moving away from Satanic forms of witchcraft so it will be fun to see how Marie transforms the coven’s practices with Zelda’s support.
Are Sabrina And Harvey Destined To Be Together?
The various romances are a big part of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3 and that will look to continue next season. Even though Sabrina put her life on the line to save Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood), he can’t overcome the trauma and pain he endured to continue with their relationship as if nothing happened. The pair break up and her connection with Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch) subsequently comes back into play. Harvey is unable to perform a ritual to bring Roz Walker (Jaz Sinclair) back after she is turned to stone because she’s apparently not his true love. There are also hints that Sabrina might not totally be over her romance with Harvey. The two to take an effort in leaving that period behind them but it’s obvious that there’s another chapter in their story.
Will Prudence Take Back Control Of Judith And Judas?
At the start of season 3, Ambrose and Prudence (Tati Gabrielle) are on the search for Father Blackwood (Richard Coyle). When they catch up to him, they discover that he’s been traveling with the twins, Judith and Judas. The children, however, have grown into young teens due to the magic of the time egg. Ambrose assists Prudence in giving her siblings refuge in a dollhouse located in the Spellman home. Father Blackwood later finds his brainwashed children and reclaims them as his followers along with Agatha (Adeline Rudolph), who is still insane from her run-in with Pan. Prudence ends her relationship with Ambrose and is now more alone than ever without her Weird Sisters. It’s likely that she will turn her focus to rescuing her siblings and break them free of their father’s control. Since Nick is also straying from the coven as an outsider, it would make sense that he help Prudence in some way.
What Hatched From Father Blackwood’s Mysterious Egg?
While locating Father Blackwood in Scotland, Ambrose and Prudence also find that he is in the possession of a mysterious time egg given to him by a creature from Loch Ness. When Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3 closes out, viewers learn that Blackwood took back the egg which Ambrose was hiding and hatches it during a ritual in the Greendale woods. It’s unclear what exactly came out of the egg but it will certainly be bad. Ancient gods and new mythical beings could potentially be introduced when the series returns for season 4.
