A new animated video shows the complete evolution of Chucky from the Child’s Play film series. Created by Don Mancini in 1988, Child’s Play centers around a deranged serial killer who transfers his soul into a Good Guys doll in order to stay alive. Despite the varying success of the sequels, Chucky keeps returning for more blood.

The Child’s Play franchise has spawned a total of seven movies, spanning over 30 years. Like most horror film characters, Chucky has gone through several different looks over the years. Despite the subtle changes to Chucky’s costume, the demonic doll has become a horror icon that’s instantly recognizable within the horror community. Fans can sit through hours worth of Child’s Play movies in order see the differences in Chucky’s costume, or they could simply watch a short animated video that gives a detailed breakdown of the films.

Posted on YouTube, Tell It Animated’s newest video focuses on the evolution of Chucky. Like most of their videos, the video breaks down Chucky’s appearance for each of the Child’s Play movies, while also giving a brief summary of each of the films to catch people up for future Child’s Play installments. Chucky’s appearance has stayed mostly the same over the years, but some of the biggest differences are the facial scars that he receives in Bride of Chucky after Tiffany rebuilds him, and also the color, length, and style of his hair. The full video can be seen below.

Chucky has been at the center of many twisted storylines over the years, but the horror doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Like Tell It Animated briefly mentioned, there are a few different Child’s Play projects coming down the pipeline. Coming out first is a Child’s Play reboot which stars Aubrey Plaza and Gabriel Bateman. A Chucky TV show is also coming to Syfy, although the series doesn’t currently have a release date. Mancini also had plans for a Freddy Krueger and Chucky crossover a few years ago, but that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon.

While it’s unknown how much Chucky’s appearance will change in Mancini’s TV show, first look images of Chucky in Child’s Play show that Chucky is getting a complete redesign for the reboot. Many long-time horror fans are hesitant on Chucky’s new look, and even Mancini had a negative reaction to the reboot’s version of the character. Fans have to wait a few more months to see Chucky back on the big screen, but this animated video is a good way get caught up in the mean time.
