Charlie Sheen was cast to be on season 28 of Dancing with the Stars but opted out just before the premiere. He explains why he decided not to take on the dance competition.

The movie and TV actor who has starred in blockbuster films such as Platoon and Wall Street, as well as the classic TV show Two and a Half Men. Recently, it seems Sheen has drew more attention for his personal life than his acting roles, making headlines for his volatile behavior, substance abuse, bizarre interviews and antics with adult film stars. Sheen has turned down the opportunity to be on Dancing with the Stars. Ex-husband to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ and 90210 star Denise Richards, Sheen has been pretty MIA from the screen in recent years since his time on the TV show Anger Management.

Sheen revealed that he was cast to be on Dancing with the Stars, but explained why he decided to quit right before the premiere. Sheen told Us Weekly, “I was very flattered by ABC and their offer, but at the end of the day, I have two left feet and I just can’t dance.” As it turns out, the spot as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars was a part of a bigger deal for ABC. A source explained, “When there is a big star like that, they will get some sort of deal for a pilot with ABC.”

Sheen’s publicist, Jeff Ballard, also confirmed that the spot on Dancing with the Stars was a part of a deal for a pilot series. He said that while “ABC made a very generous offer” for a pilot series, “it was contingent upon his participation on Dancing With the Stars.” Had Sheen decided to take up ABC on the offer and participate in Dancing with the Stars, he would have been paired up with dancing pro Cheryl Burke. Former NFL player Ray Lewis had taken the spot for Sheen and is currently on the dancing show paired up with Burke.

It seems like Sheen’s lack of dancing ability may have cost him a bigger offer with ABC. Whatever the real reasons may be for not dancing on the popular ABC show, Sheen seems content with his decision. Even though Dancing with the Stars missed out on having a strong and sometimes controversial star on the dance floor, there are still plenty of other controversial characters with two left feet to watch in his place.
