After the confetti littered Hard Rock Stadium and the Kansas City Chiefs had collected their first Lombardi Trophy in 50 years, tight end and former star of the one-and-done reality show Catching Kelce Travis Kelce hopped on ESPN set to break down the greatest victory of his life. He was drilled about his team’s late-game heroics, after coming back from down 24 points to the Houston Texans in the divisional round, 10 points to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship and 10 points to the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

Former 49ers quarterback Steve Young asked Kelce of the Chiefs’ comebacks, “Can you do it a little earlier?” The former lead of a reality dating show retorted, “Why would we do that? We’re selling tickets.” It had felt, since Andy Reid took over as head coach of the Chiefs, that it was a matter of when, not if, Kansas City would win a Super Bowl. Once Patrick Mahomes took over as quarterback at the start of the 2018-19 season, that timeline was accelerated. From the onset, Mahomes was a prodigious talent, with a right arm that could bend any which way while hitting his receivers in stride. He won the NFL Most Valuable Player award after his first season as a starter and hardly took a step back in his second year leading the Chiefs. Through this time, Kelce has cemented himself as one of the greatest pass-catching tight ends in the game.

Although Kelce didn’t find true love on Catching Kelce, he now has another ring he has spent his whole life working towards. He scored a pivotal touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the Chiefs ahead of the 49ers for good. At 30 years old, he has spent his entire NFL career in Kansas City. The former University of Cincinnati Bearcat is a five-time Pro Bowler, a two-time first-team All-Pro and now a Super Bowl champion. He told ESPN after the game, “That feeling is the greatest feeling in the world. It’s an unbelievable feeling.”

The future appears bright for Kelce and the Chiefs. He has the best quarterback in the NFL and the face of the league throwing him passes and one of the most well-respected head coaches in the game. Heading into the offseason, they should be among the favorites to win Super Bowl 55 in 2021.

There are many things that Kelce is known for, and starring on Catching Kelce is pretty far down on the list. He didn’t have success on the E! Entertainment Television dating show, confirming a breakup with Maya Benberry in January 2017 a year after the show premiered. A little over three years later, the heartbreak of the past, both on the field and in love, can be forgotten. Travis Kelce is a Super Bowl champion.
