Captain Marvel has gotten a new trailer that confirms the film’s Digital and Blu-ray release dates. The official introduction to Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel exceeded the already-high expectations ahead of its release to earn positive reviews and $1.1 billion at the global box office in a matter of months. Celebrated for Brie Larson’s performance and its numerous callbacks to 1990s sci-fi action fare (the same decade in which its plot takes place), it’s fair to say the movie made an impression on people. And that was before Carol showed up to help save the day again shortly after in Avengers: Endgame, no less.

Like so much of the MCU, it’s not altogether clear what the future holds for Carol following Endgame. Of course, the blockbuster’s only two weeks into its record-breaking run at the box office (buoyed by its own enthusiastic word of mouth), and there’s still July’s Spider-Man: Far From Home to cover before the franchise’s Phase 3 comes to an official conclusion. In between then, though, fans will be able to enjoy Carol’s origin story all over again, when her solo film hits the home video market, starting at the end of this month.

Disney/Marvel have released a new Captain Marvel trailer that confirms the movie’s fast-approaching Digital and Blu-ray release dates (May 28 and June 11, 2019, respectively). The studio also confirmed the film’s home release will include the standard special features like deleted scenes (six in total), director commentary (in this case, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck), a blooper reel, and previously-unreleased concept art and production photography. You can watch the preview in the space below.

The trailer doesn’t hold back on revealing the movie’s most memorable plot beats, ranging from the dramatic (Carol unleashing her full powers for the first time) to the humorous (the truth about Nick Fury’s damaged eye revealed). Of course, Captain Marvel’s spoiler ban is well past its expiration date, so there’s no reason to hold back on reminding everyone of the scenes that generated the most discussion (both good and bad). Beyond that, the film’s home release seems pretty well-coordinated with the rest of the MCU. By the time the movie hits Blu-ray, the madness that is Endgame’s commercial run will have (mostly) subsided and MCU fans will be looking for something to tide them over until Far From Home arrives. A second (or third or fourth, and so forth) visit to Carol Danvers’ backstory could do the trick nicely.

Fortunately, there should be some fresh MCU updates arriving shortly after Far From Home opens a few weeks later. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed Marvel Studios plans to announce some Phase 4 release dates later this summer, possibly during their San Diego Comic-Con panel at that. And while Black Widow and The Eternals are tentatively expected to be the MCU’s two movie releases for 2020, it’s safe to assume the studio intends to bring Carol Danvers back for more in the foreseeable future. She might have an entire universe to protect but, rest assured, Captain Marvel will find her way back to the big screen soon enough.
