Marvel fans can spend an hour with Captain Marvel star Goose the Cat. As Marvel has been gearing up for the release of their next film, much attention has been placed on Goose, the seemingly ordinary housecat. Despite only making a brief appearance in the trailers, Goose has garnered plenty of attention. Now fans can watch one of the MCU’s latest unconventional heroes in an hour-long livestream.

Captain Marvel takes place in 1995 and follows the story of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and her role in the Kree-Skrull war. Along the way she’ll run into and ultimately collaborate with S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Captain Marvel has yet to debut, but she’s already become one of the MCU’s most controversial figures. Since the release of the first trailer, Captain Marvel has been criticized for not smiling enough and introducing feminism to the MCU. Some have already even taken to trolling Rotten Tomatoes with bad reviews. Despite or perhaps in part because of this small yet vocal group, ticket pre-sales for Captain Marvel are surging past other superhero films, including Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Early responses have largely been positive, thanks, in part, to Carol’s feline sidekick.

In the latest bit of marketing for Captain Marvel, Marvel Entertainment livestreamed Goose the Cat for an hour. Anyone who’s a fan of Marvel or just likes a good cat video can enjoy watching Goose as she plays, dozes, and enjoys a well-deserved snack. One of her co-stars even makes an appearance towards the end of the stream.

For anyone unfamiliar with the source material, Goose the Cat is more than she appears. Goose is in fact a Flerken, an alien species whose bodies contain interdimensional portals. While she’s named Chewie (in reference to Chewbacca) in the comics, it was decided to rename her after a Top Gun character for the film. Just what sort of role she’ll play in Captain Marvel and beyond remains unknown, but there’s a chance audiences will see at least some of her unique abilities play out on the big screen.

Captain Marvel will kick off 2019’s Marvel Studios movie lineup, with Avengers: Endgame close on its heels. Along with further expanding the MCU, fans will likely learn more about S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as Nick Fury, such as how he lost his eye. According to one persistent online rumor, Goose has a little something to do with it. Whether that proves true or not, it sounds like Goose’s inclusion in Captain Marvel will be something fans won’t want to miss.
