Captain Marvel star Brie Larson proves that she can totally lift Mjolnir. Captain Marvel is the freshest face in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she’s already one of the most powerful. Her solo film put her abilities on full display, and revealed that the source of them is an Infinity Stone. She’s incredibly strong, can fly, and is almost unbeatable when she goes binary. After starring in a billion-dollar solo film, Carol was then brought into the larger MCU story.

Larson made her second MCU appearance in Avengers: Endgame, although it was not as large of a role as many had hoped to see. She was absent from the majority of the film’s story, but when she did return in the final battle, her presence drew the attention of Thanos’ entire forces. Captain Marvel single-handily destroyed Thanos’ ship, and held him off from snapping his fingers once again. The strength she displayed was on par with Hulk and Iron Man wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, or Captain America finally picking up Mjolnir.

In a new post on her Instagram, Larson shared a photo proving that she’s worthy to hold Thor’s incredibly mighty hammer. She’s pictured nonchalantly holding the hammer, with her caption reading “told you I could lift it” to prove any doubters wrong. This may not prove that Captain Marvel herself could lift Mjolnir in the MCU, but Larson certainly can.

Thanks to an enchantment from Odin, only someone who’s “worthy” is able to lift Mjolnir. In the MCU, that has allowed Thor, Vision, and Captain America the ability to wield the hammer - while Hela used it prior to the enchantment. Since breaking out with her Oscar-winning performance in 2015’s Room, Larson has used her newfound fame to raise awareness of gender inequality and became an advocate of the #MeToo movement. Supporting these causes is reason enough for Larson to be worthy of such power.

With Larson holding Mjolnir though, many MCU fans will undoubtedly wonder if Captain Marvel could one day lift the hammer onscreen. That’s currently out of the question, since the main MCU timeline doesn’t have a Mjolnir in it, but that could change in 2021 with Thor: Love and Thunder. Jane Foster will become Mighty Thor in the movie, and Natalie Portman held Mjolnir during San Diego Comic-Con. If Jane does bring Mjolnir back to the MCU somehow, then Captain Marvel could one day have the opportunity to wield it too. But if not, the Captain Marvel star herself will still be able to lift the prop version.
