Caitlyn Jenner channeled daughter Kylie Jenner’s catchphrase “Rise and Shine” while shooting I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The Olympian and trans activist delivered the hilarious line during a pep talk to her teammates on the British reality show. It was in late 2019 that Kylie made the slogan famous when she walked into daughter Stormi’s nursery and sang her awake with the words. Caitlyn must have known that the moment would go viral, and decided to launch into a cheeky homage to her youngest daughter.
“Lets go team!” Caitlyn shouted. “Not just another day, another day to excel, another day to be great. Rise and shine!” She punctuated the moment with laughter. This was an exceptional opportunity for Caitlyn to drive home that she’s related to one of the more influential people in beauty and pop culture. She’s also been a brilliant addition to the rugged reality show that takes celebrities out of their comfort zones and forces them to adapt to jungle living conditions. Caitlyn has been great about bonding with her costars and seems to be much more easygoing than her recent appearance on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Caitlyn joined the cast of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here during its 19th season shooting in Australia. She appeared on the U.S. version of the show back in 2003. If she emerges victorious, she’ll be crowned Queen of the Jungle. It’s a less noble distinction than her Olympic gold medal and inspirational speaking engagements. Still, it’s proof that Caitlyn can exist as a reality television draw independent of the Kardashians and their namesake show. So far, her brand is a lot lighter and less exclusive. She seems open, and chatty, and funny. A lot of her current onscreen persona is a reaction to the feud that erupted when Caitlyn and Kris Jenner divorced back in 2015 following Caitlyn’s transition, as well as her famous Vanity Fair interview. Statements that she made about her marriage to the Kardashian matriarch created a rift that is still far from being mended with certain family members.
That’s why it’s nice to see Caitlyn’s sense of humor coming out more and more. From The Comedy Central Roast of Alec Baldwin, to the “Rise and Shine” moment, she’s been winning over old and new fans. Not only that, but everyone else in the world capitalized on the quirky catchphrase, so surely Caitlyn should be granted the same access. The Kardashians and Jenners are at their best when they lean into their playful sides. With so many scandals and dramas between them, that isn’t always easy. However, this moment harkens back to the good old days when the Kardashian-Jenners laughed and teased with the best of them.
