Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is singing the praises of a parody of a Bruno Mars music video that features the webslinger. YouTube, of course, has been a haven for movie fans to toy with their favorite movie characters, whether it be through trailer mashups or shot-for-shot trailer re-enactments with LEGO figures. Once in a while, though, groups of creatives get together to stage an elaborate production, and the latest has Holland’s Spidey senses tingling.
Holland is impressed with the video parody, dubbed “This Spidey’s Life,” that he shared it on his Instagram account. Presented by Nerdist – which last month released a parody music video for Beauty and the Beast – the new parody shows Spider-Man copying Mars’ dance moves from the singer’s smash music video “That’s What I Like.”
Dressed in a yellow jacket and awaiting a job interview with The Avengers, Spidey busts some serious moves throughout the video, and like Mars, the dancing is accompanied by vivid illustrations (except in Spidey’s music video world, those illustrations are inspired by classic Spider-Man stories and elements from Spider-Man: Homecoming).
Here are the lyrics to “That Spidey Life”:
[Verse 1]
Hey, hey, hey
Webslingin’ all around Manhattan
Tony Stark What’s hapnin’?
Gotta new suit it’s stylin’
So gon’ and get to snappin’
I pose it for yah playas
Po-pose it for yah
Do a flip then drop a perpetrator
Stop, Stop ‘em for yah
Got an apartment with my Auntie
Old Suit look like Jammies (yep)
Make me an Avenger
Spider-man in that family (Spider-Man!)
You got me if you want me
Tony, got me if you want me
Said recruit me if you want me
Took down Ant-man cuz you wanted to
[Pre-Chorus]
Dodge all the sneak attacks
I don’t need no eyes on ‘em
It’s that SPIDEY SENSE
Ain’t got no surprise on me
Call me so Amazing, So Spectacularrrr!
Do all that a spider can do!
[Chorus]
Webshooters up on my wrist
You know I make it go THWIP
That’s how I live that Spidey life that Spidey life
Web-wings I’m gliding at night
Silk strings and webbing ALL WHITE
[Verse 2]
I’m takin’ hits that hurt my ego
Vulture where did he go?
Please don’t tell me secret?
Promise me you’ll keep it, on the low
With great power comes great responsibility!
I promise NYC that I’ll never leave!
Midtown give me guidance
Everyday workin on science
Take a look at those heroes
And tell me who’s the freshest
Is it HER? (is it her?) Is it HE? (is it he?) Say it’s me! (say it’s me) and I’ll agree baby!
It’s that spidey sense
[Bridge]
You say that I’m the newwwwww guy
Well here I am baby, it’s my HOMECOMING Welcome me, welcome me, welcome me
To the Infinity War! (GO FIND THEM STONES!) If you want me PLEASE come and tell me
Just yell out UNDER-ROOS!
Tell me Tony, tell me, tell me Tony
What you wanna do?!
Silk strings and webbing ALL WHITE That’s how I live that Spidey life that Spidey life
Dancer Ben Carter is wearing the Spidey suit in the video, it’s a blast to watch him do whatever a spider can to entertain his viewers. Since Holland’s so impressed with the video, maybe the actor will reach out to Carter (and won’t forget Mars and Jay Long, who sings the song parody) to attend the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere. After this dazzling music video, Carter deserves a real taste of “That Spidey Life.”
