Britney Spears took the time to call out trolls and bullies, while also promoting positivity - just in time for the holidays. News surrounding Spears over the past year has focused primarily on her personal struggles, and she’s eager to end the year with some cheer.
Spears has recently been in the news for her custody agreement, which was changed due to issues with her father. In August, it was reported that her father, Jamie Spears, got into a physical altercation with her son, Preston Spears, and Kevin Federline went to court to gain an emergency restraining order against his once father-in-law. Police did not end up filing any abuse charges against Jamie. Now, the queen of pop is taking down bullies who are trying to steal her Christmas spirit.
The “Hit Me Baby One More Time” singer revealed in an Instagram post that she has no time for the online bullies. In a holiday montage, Spears shared what her Christmas tree will look like with presents underneath it this year and asked fans to stop saying hurtful words online. On Friday, December 13, she danced to the tune of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” while trying to bring joy to her millions of followers. She addressed her fans with plenty Christmas spirit, but also a necessary message.
During the festive celebrations, Spears also revealed that it was hard for her to want to continue sharing her life on social media because of all the backlash she receives. She encouraged her fans that if they do not like a post to just keep it to themselves or unfollow the person, as there is no reason for someone to go out of their way to make mean comments or bully. The mother of two ended on a positive note, wishing her fans a nice holiday season and encouraging everyone to be happy and positive toward one another.
Always at her side, the pop singer’s boyfriend, Sam Asghari, once again supported her by writing a comment, saying that it is very easy to cyberbully and hide behind cruel words, encouraging people to be a better version of themselves. The anti-bully post was not the first post that took on internet trolls as the “Toxic” singer had another post warning that people must be careful of friends who do not genuinely support them. Hopefully, her followers take heed to her plea - and hopefully everyone can enjoy a pleasant holiday season without having to worry about negativity.
