Following the mockups of the 4-inch iPhone 5 this morning, one of our awesome readers, Spencer Caldwell, made this beautiful mockup (above). Spencer took this morning’s idea and added more pixels vertically, while keeping the pixels the same horizontally as the iPhone 4S (640-by-1152 pixels). As for the home button on the device, Spencer took the Photo Stream leak from last summer (below) and implemented it on the device. The latest Kantar data has two pieces of good news for Apple: the iPhone XR was the best-selling smartphone in the UK during the first quarter of the year, and iOS significantly grew its market share in the US … Kantar reports that the XR was the highlight during the quarter. An 11-year-old girl from California claims that her iPhone 6 recently caught fire. Kayla Ramos says that she was holding her iPhone in her hand when she saw sparks and threw the device across the room. One month before the release of Captain Marvel, the first official clip from the film has emerged, with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers fighting a shape-shifting Skrull. Though the clip is brief, it expands on a scene featured in the trailer, showing off the film’s tone, pace, and special effects. As the 21st movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel precedes the Guardians of the Galaxy storyline - even featuring the film’s villain Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) - but doesn’t explicitly set up that plot....

More than 650,000 tests reveal that US carriers throttle online video on their mobile networks, and do this whether or not those networks are congested. All four of the main carriers were found to be engaged in this, though the video services they throttled varied… One of the study’s authors told Bloomberg that while carriers often claim they only throttle connections at times of network congestion, the large-scale study involving streaming at a huge range of different times, dates, and places showed that this is not the case....

Update: Apple has removed support for prepaid cards from American Express. It also added a column for corporate cards, hinting that support for those cards might be on the way. With Apple’s launch of its new Apple Pay payments service in the US yesterday, it has now published a support document detailing supported card types from each of its initial banking partners. We already knew that MasterCard, Visa, and American Express cards would be supported initially through a growing list of banking partners, but the support document shows certain types of cards, like business and corporate cards, aren’t yet supported through some banks....
